Tis year was a dif-ferent playoff format with a tournament style quali-fying tournament instead of the best of three playoff series we have had for the past several years. Russell came with their A game and dominated the 󿬁rst period scoring four unan-swered goals. Te Chancellors were not ready to throw the towel in on the season  just yet and managed to get on the board with an unassisted goal scored by Chayce Hanson. Te rojans were able to an-swer back and keep the four goal lead going into the third period up 5-1. Te Chancellors put more pressure on in the third and two more goals by Lucas Beatty with Zane MacDonald getting two assists and Ryan McLene-han with one. Te rojans scored a couple more to keep their lead but Zane MacDonald managed to break lose in Chancellors end and scored a beauty back hand goal when the Chancellors were short-handed. Te Chancellors ended up on the losing side 8-4. Te team played a good game and had their share of the play, but were out matched by the ro- jans experienced players. Tis brings the 2016/2017 season of hockey to an end which also means a farewell to the Grade 12s that will be moving on – Ryan McLe-nehan, Chayce Hanson, roy Johnson and Joel Hynbida.  By DIANE BACHEWICH  C orrection from last  week’s news, should have been Diane Bach-ewich and not David Bachewich as listed in the second paragraph under Sandy Lake News. Paul Stasiuk had daughter Arlene Moore of Edmonton, AB visiting  with him the past week. Peter and Muriel Sol-onyczny returned home from a two week holiday in Mexico. A couple of car loads from here attended the  Valentine Dance at Horod Hall on Saturday, Febru-ary 18th. Ida Andreychuk, Di-ane Bachewich, Rose Rogaski and Stella Kow-alchuk took in the North Regional Cribbage play off at Newdale. Ida and Di-ane get to go to the North/South 󿬁nal play offs in  April as they were one of the 10 winners. Lawrence and Barb Osadec spent a few days in Calgary, AB visiting with son Jeff, Pam and girls. Te Drop-In Cen-tre members hosted the North Regional Carpet Bowl play offs with eight teams participating. First  went to the Rivers team, second to a Sandy Lake team and third to another Rivers team. Tere were three teams from Rivers, two from Rapid City and three local ones. Rapid City will be back to try their luck next year. Every-one enjoyed a delicious lunch and a great fun time. Coffee and goodies  were served before every-one went home. Diane en-tertained all present with her stories. im and Dorothy Ma-luk along with sons Tom-as and Louis returned from an enjoyable Mexico holiday. Chub Lewandoski had a birthday on Satur-day and treated everyone to coffee and puffed wheat cake on Saturday morn-ing. Happy Birthday Chub. Helen Derhak was glad to hear that Allan and Nancy Derhak of Riding Mountain arrived home from their holiday to Cuba. Ida Andreychuk was happy to hear that her son-in-law Darrel House is recuperating 󿬁ne after his triple heart by-pass in Edmonton, AB. Lucy Mendos of Flin Flon called in on Aunt Sadie Rystephanuk for a short visit on Saturday.
